Some More Workshop Testimonials…

Words from Carol Roberts, September ’11 workshop.

Returning to Vancouver

“I was over the top excited about my writing idea and Margot calmed me and pulled me off the table. She is grounded and thoughtful but still fun.

Margot listened intently to the ideas for my art book. After esquire time she got to essence of my project. What made it different and unique, the one thing that set it apart and was able to put this into a title.

I now always measure my ideas against the title, Portable Art, Visually Record Your life.

Brilliant! I have used other titles and this one uses some of what I had, but is a Stronger.

Margot was very supportive and her years in the industry show by her discernment.

I am grateful that I took the workshop, I feel supported.”

Margot says…

“Carol’s project title is Portable Art, Visually Record Your life. It offers detailed instruction on how to sketch and paint your memories with small and very portable art supplies. You will put away your camera!”

Some Workshop Testimonials…

DIANA ALSTAD, California, writes…

“Margot Boland’s workshop is the perfect introduction for authors to the science and art of book design. I had no idea of the amount of expertise needed to create an effective cover.

“Margot is excellent for book cover advice of all types – whether quickly evaluating a cover or envisioning a new one. When I was dissatisfied with the publisher’s proposed cover, she helped me to see its strong and weak points in terms of marketing and current styles, and to suggest changes. Since the publisher has the power, and the designer the expertise – this helped create realistic goals and a better strategy for getting more of what I wanted.

I succeeded!”

MARY LAZIER, Alliston, Ontario, writes...

“Margot was a great help designing my book -she helped put the stories in order, chose the painting for the cover, suggested the colour scheme and re-named the book. Originally it was called “Kaleidoscope of Dufferin” but Margot said, “Nobody can spell that, let’s change it to “Stars of Dufferin”. Our book meeting gave me the confidence to continue with a professional printer.
Thanks Margot!”
